The Coast of Bays region is a naturally vibrant and visually spectacular location to visit and has tremendous tourism potential. With today's travel trend toward shorter vacations focused on deeper experience, the Coast of Bays is a genuine haven for individuals and families seeking relaxation, culture or adventure in a natural setting. The region has a multitude of small bays, inlets, coves and waterways making it an ideal environment for aquatic adventures. |
The life and times of early settlers are evident in the historic sites that are established, such as Cluett House in Belleoram and Sunny Cottage Heritage Center in Harbour Breton.
Tourism development opportunities abound both along the coast and inland. A dizzying array of wild animals and natural attractions provide the keystones for eco-tourism, adventure packages, boat charters, hunting expeditions and fishing lodges. Big and small game can be viewed in their natural habitat.
In the region, there are many licensed rivers and brooks where by one can experience the thrill of catching a salmon. As well, locally farmed trout can be fished from a fish out pond located in St. Veronica's.
Accommodations are located throughout the Coast of Bays region. There are four parks in the region with a total of fifty-three campsites, along with three hunting and fishing lodges. In Bay d'Espoir, there are three motels and one cabin operator. Fortune Bay North Shore has three bed and breakfasts, while the ConHer sub region has two motels and three bed and breakfasts.
