Internet Accessibility

Internet dial-up service is available locally in Bay d'Espoir through a local Internet Services Provider, Conne.com, which utilizes a satellite connection direct to Cancom in Mississauga, Ontario. The average connection rate in the local area is between 26400 and 38400 bps. The Sympatico Internet dial-up service, offered by Aliant, is available locally to all towns in the region. On the Connaigre Peninsula, Aliant also offers Internet service via a DSL network.  Persona Inc. offers high speed Internet access through its cable networks in Bay D'Espoir and Hr. Breton.  

This region also takes advantage of the Community Access Program (CAP) of Industry Canada. There are nine Community Access Program  (CAP) Centres in the region located at St. Stephen's School, (Rencontre East), Belleoram Municipal Centre (Belleoram), King Academy School (Harbour Breton), John Watkins Academy (Hermitage), St. Peter's All Grade (McCallum) , Gaultois Public Library (Gaultois), St. Alban's Public Library 
(St. Alban's), Bay D'Espoir Academy (Milltown) and at the Community Centre in Mose Ambrose.
