The Coast of Bays was part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Pavilion featured at the Travel and Leisure Show in Toronto from April 27 - 30, 2000.  The pavilion, led by Sandy Hickman of the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Youth, was comprised of ten booths hosted by twenty people from around the province.

The show consisted of over 400 displays featuring tourism destinations and activities around the world.  Over the course of the four days 20,301 people attended the show.  From our experience, about 75% were in the 65+ age category with the remaining 25% representing friends of seniors or travel agencies.

Many who visited our pavilion indicated that the people they had met and the culture they experienced while here on previous visits made their trip worthwhile and was reason enough to visit again.   Others mentioned stories of trips by friends which had spurred their interest.  All visitors to the provincial pavilion were given a kiss - a Purity Factories kiss.

There was a great interest in the National Parks at Gros Morne and Terra Nova as well as the Viking village at Lanse au Meadows.  Jewel Cunningham and Denise Loder had a bank of information about these attractions.  Labrador, represented by Sue Anderson and Sonia McKim, was also given good exposure during the show.
