The weekend of July 9, 10, 11 and 12 was a time of celebration in Harbour Breton as the annual Tradition by the Sea festivities were underway. The weekend began with opening ceremonies by local dignitaries followed by a beach party at Deadman's Cove.

Saturday saw the arrival of the Bluenose II, dory races in the harbour, children's activities at the Sunny Cottage grounds, a senior's party at the Harbour Breton Lions Club and the annual Resettlement Dance at the arena.

On Sunday, the community gathered at the arena to watch as the local police and friends had their heads shaven as a fundraiser for cancer research. This was followed by an afternoon of games of chance and entertainment by "Celtic Connection".
