On February 5, Tracey Perry, Executive Director of the Coast of Bays Corporation, represented the Coast of Bays at the Soiree '99 media campaign in Toronto. This campaign, sponsored by the provincial government, was part of a six city roadshow showcasing Newfoundland music, culture and cuisine to market the province as a tourism destination in 1999 - the fiftieth anniversary of our entry into Confederation.
Over 300 media personnel attended the function held at the Royal York Hotel and sampled a small piece of Newfoundland and Labrador. Tracey had the opportunity to meet and talk with many people during the event impressing upon them the many opportunities this region has to offer. She also gathered much information pertaining to tourist expectations.
Tracey took to the campaign a number of brochures of attractions in the zone as well as a good supply of the regional promotional materials. These materials were taken by media people from all across Canada, the USA and Europe. Attendance at such events will promote the zone to a very wide audience allowing us to tap a very lucrative tourism marketplace.
