During the week of October 26 - 30, the development agencies of the Coast of Bays region observed Small Business Week 1998 by holding Open Houses at the Regional Resource Centre in St. Alban's and at King Academy in Harbour Breton.

The Open House events included displays by the Coast of Bays Corporation, the South Coast Community Development Corporation, the Department of Human Resources and Employment, Human Resources Development Canada Outreach Offices, the Newfoundland Salmonid Growers Association and the Department of Development and Rural Renewal.

The Open Houses were visited by over two hundred people representing a cross-section of the region including students and teachers, the business community, non-profit organizations and entrepreneurs in the planning stages of their business development.
