Rare Bird Spotted in the Coast of Bays

Rare Bird Resembling a Pelican in Hermitage

On Sunday, July 6, Deborah Collier, our Human Resources Planner was visiting family in Hermitage and noticed a strange bird on the shore below.  On closer inspection she realized that the bird resembled a pelican, which is uncommon for these parts, and ran for the digital camera to take these pictures.

It is unknown if this bird is still around the community of Hermitage but this part of the province is home to a large population of Bald Eagles which nest in the nearby cliffs..  The Coast of Bays region is a birdwatcher's paradise as many smaller songbirds as well often frequent the region on their migration to other areas and sometimes they are blown off course by storms along the eastern seaboard.
