PowWow '99 Held at Conne River

Chief Misel Joe, Conne River First Nation

The Eagle Dance

Conne River was the place to be over the weekend of July 2,3 and 4 as they held Powwow '99. Visiting tribal representatives came from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Oklahoma and Alaska.

The annual Powwow is an alcohol and drug free event which brings together First Nations from all over in friendship to give thanks for a prosperous year. It is also an opportunity for the host tribe to share their good fortune with visiting brothers and sisters and to educate others of the Mi'kmaq culture and language.
