The Coast of Bays
at the Outdoor Newfoundland and Labrador Show 1999

The Coast of Bays region was well represented at the Outdoors Show 1999 held at the Glacier in Mount Pearl on April 22, 23, 24 and 25. Baxter House, Tourism Coordinator, and Conrad Collier hosted the Coast of Bays booth at the show which was open to the public twelve hours each day. In addition, the Town of Harbour Breton and Stan Hill Jr. had booths at the show. Close to ten thousand people attended the three and a half day show which showcased tourism and sporting related equipment and vehicles, services, tourism associations, zonal boards and towns.

All the displays from the Coast of Bays reported a very positive response from all persons visiting the booths. The Coast of Bays booth had information requests regarding availability of accomodations to handle bus tours, campgrounds, fishing areas, rock climbing areas, events, guiding services for fishing, canoeing in the Bay du Nord Wilderness Reserve, Conne River and marina services. We also learned that the Bay D'Espoir area is being featured in the next edition of the Newfoundland Sportsman and will be featured later in the Canadian Sportsman.

We wish to acknowledge the Belleoram Crew and Jeff Gillam for supplying background music for the booth, Stan Hill for supplying a carving for a prize draw and the Motel Bay D'Espoir for providing a tablecloth and table skirt. Also the many businesses and organizations that supplied promotional materials.
