Coast of Bays Corporation, Newfoundland Salmonid Growers Association and Holy Cross All Grade Sign MOU

On Monday, April 14, representatives of the Coast of Bays Corporation, Newfoundland Salmonid Growers Association and Holy Cross All Grade came together to sign a Memorandum of Understanding that will see students at Holy Cross All Grade develop a website for the Newfoundland Salmonid Growers Association.

The website will be developed over the next eight weeks and will be a vehicle to promote the finfish aquaculture of the Bay D'Espoir area. This endeavour will provide on-the job experience for the students while demonstrating that this type of work can be performed anywhere regardless of geography. From this, the students may consider an entrepreneurial venture in this or another related Information Technology field. The Coast of Bays Corporation will act in a liaison capacity between the parties.

" This is an excellent example of how economic development agencies, industry and eduction can work together for the benefit of all," stated Tracey Perry, Executive Director of the Coast of Bays Corporation. " This is indeed a milestone for the school ", added Gordon Sutton, Principal of Holy Cross All Grade. Steve Moyse and Dr. Mike Tlusty of the NSGA said that this is only the start of a very effective medium to promote the finfish aquaculture industry in this part of the province. This site will be linked to the website of the Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association (NAIA) and other aquaculture related sites once it is online.
