On Monday, July 5, The Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Maxwell House, and Mrs. House paid a visit to the Town of Belleoram as part of their Soiree '99 tour of the south coast of the province aboard the HMCS St. John's.

While in Belleoram, Mayor Stewart May gave the Vice-Regal couple a guided tour of the newly constructed Community Center and other points of interest in town including Cluett House, St. Lawrence Anglican Church, the Scallop Hatchery and the Fortune Bay North Shore Family Resource Centre.

Following the tour, there was a luncheon at the Community Center where the Lieutenant Governor and Mayor May addressed the gathering. The Lieutenant Governor said that considering the history of Belleoram, it was most fitting to arrive by sea.

After visiting Belleoram, the Lieutenant Governor continues his tour of the south coast to Harbour Breton, Bay D'Espoir, Francois, Ramea and Port aux Basques.
