| On Wednesday, February 16, people from all over the Coast of
Bays region gathered at the Great Hall in Conne River for an Information Technology
Business Workshop. The attendees represented schools, crafts producers, hotels,
exporters, hunting lodges, community access centres and manufacturers. The workshop,
co-sponsored by the Coast of Bays Corporation and Operation
ONLINE, was held to showcase the many ways business can use the Internet to do
business. The workshop demonstrated how crafts producers could use online auction
services such as e-Bay to access a new clientele or
market. It also informed of online translation services and provided a general
overview of the state of the technology industries in the province.
John Fisher of Fishers' Loft, a bed and
breakfast in Port Rexton, demonstrated his website and talked about the very positive
changes in the business since having an online presence. Stan Singh, the IT
Co-ordinator for the Coast of Bays, Exploits Valley and the Emerald Zone, will return
later to move to the next step with interested parties - that of developing a website. |
