On Saturday, December 4, M.P. George Baker, Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and Veterans Affairs, met with the Coast of Bays Board of Directors in Harbour Breton.

The Board discussed with Mr. Baker development priorities in the zone as well as concerns about the EI legislation and and how it affects the people of the Coast of Bays region and rural Newfoundland and Labrador in general.  The meeting also talked about the possibility of a transportation link with the Burin Peninsula. Mr. Baker also spoke about the significance of extending   Canada's economic zone off the east coast to include the continental shelf.
