IT Economic Development Tool Unveiled

On Thursday, December 10, 1998, the Coast of Bays Corporation held a news conference at King Academy in Harbour Breton to unveil a locally developed information technology development initiative known as "Coast to Coast with the Coast of Bays". Representatives from all areas of the region attended the event.

The initiative is simply a database collection of email addresses of ex-patriots and others who have a genuine interest in the region. Periodically, an email will be sent to all addressees informing them of business opportunities in the region, new services being offered or products being produced in the region and community events. These email messages will be linked to electronic flyers which will provide a more indepth description or discussion of the story.

Having received this information, the 'ambassadors' of the Coast of Bays region will carry our message to their offices, their boardrooms, their leisure activities and their workplaces thus ensuring a broad scope of coverage and all for FREE. Who knows what opportunities people are waiting for to make the decision to return home or to relocate a business to our region.

As a result of this initiative, the Coast of Bays region will benefit from opportunities such as:
- business development
- business investment
- direct purchase of products and services
- increased tourist traffic and it's resultant benefits.
