The Coast of Bays Corporation held its annual
election of Officers at its Board meeting on October 5, 2004. The Executive for 2004-05 include Wesley Harris (Chair), Stan
Hill (Vice-Chair), Linwood Hunt (Treasurer) and Frances Kealey
(Secretary). Don Stewart
is the Past-Chair of the Board.
The Constitution of the Corporation allows for
the election of officers from its Board of Directors which is
comprised of representatives of various stakeholders in the region.
These stakeholders include labour, youth, municipalities,
education, business, First Nations, Development Associations and
At-Large to respond to special interests and circumstances in the
region. The Board is also cognizant of gender and geographic
representation. This
Board structure ensures a good cross section representation of the
region allowing a wide presentation of views and opinions on issues
affecting the future of the Coast of Bays.
Ex-officio members providing advice and expertise to the Board
include representatives of the Department of Innovation, Trade and
Rural Development (INTRD), the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA),
Human Resources Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) and the Department
of Health and Community Services.

Wesley Harris (At-Large -
SCCDC), Stan Hill (At-Large - Tourism), Linwood Hunt (Fortune Bay
North Shore Business), Frances Kealey (Bay d’Espoir Business), Don
Stewart (ConHer Business), Richard Ingram (Bay d’Espoir Municipalies),
Steward May (Fortune Bay North Shore Development Association), Lloyd
Jensen (ConHer Municipalities), Gerard Joe (Conne River First
Nations), Mary Diamond (Education), Sheldon Hynes (At-Large) and Jamie
Poole (Youth). We
currently have four vacant seats representing labour, ConHer
Development Association, Fortune Bay Municipalities and Youth.
We are in the process of filling these positions now and any

Anyone wishing to set up a meeting with a
stakeholder representative is encouraged to contact the appropriate
representative of that sector or the Board office to make the
arrangements. The Coast of Bays Corporation is your Board. Your
participation will ensure its effectiveness for the future of the
Coast of Bays region.
