The natural environment of the Coast of Bays is its greatest strength. With a wealth of relatively uninvestigated territory, the region provides a bounty of untapped potential for resource development.

Agrifoods:
With increasing demand for cultural, health and specialty foods, the Coast of Bays' vast resources provide a natural advantage for becoming an important player in the food industry. Along with abundant animal life, the many barrens and marshes hold a rich harvest of wild berries for the making of jams, jellies and wines to please the palate. Local topsoil is among the best in the Province and as a result, crop and livestock production can thrive here.

Forestry:
The abundance of hardwood and softwood stands in the area supply top-quality raw material for value-added manufacturing enterprises. Our Balsam Fir sites, for example, have nearly a 100% rate of regeneration, and the region is one of only a few places in the province where Eastern White Pine can still be found. Our ongoing silviculture initiatives ensure a sustainable resource for future development and profitablity.

Mining:
Initial explorations conducted in the region have revealed prime quality stone. Prospecting is still in its early stages, however the results are already promising. With Pink Granite and gold deposits known to exist, interest in staking claims is steadily rising.

Hydro-Electricity:
The vast network of rivers and lakes in the Coast of Bays covers some 6051 square kilometers. The region has one of the largest hydroelectric stations in Eastern Canada and produces 600 megawatts of power, capable of servicing large-scale industrial projects.
