On
January 19, Bret Pilgrim, Coordinator for the Coastal Planning
process in the Coast of Bays , and Conrad Collier,
Chair of the Coastal Planning Committee, were in Belleoram to
talk about the coastal planning process in the Coast of Bays
and the recently completed Marine Infrastructure Plan.
With
twenty five people in attendance representing municipal
councils, harbour authorities, fishers committees, businesses,
the whole Fortune Bay North Shore area from Pool's Cove to
Wreck Cove was well represented.
Bret began the meeting
with a detailed presentation on the role of the Coastal
Planning Committee and the various stakeholder representatives
on the committee. There was a discussion on how the committee
could be of benefit to the communities in the region.
Conrad then reviewed the
priorities for the Fortune Bay North Shore as put forward in
the Coast of Bays Marine Infrastructure Report followed by a
discussion of various aspects of the report that were of
interest to the audience.
